The sun got lower and lower and bathed the air, the sea, the houses and rocks in its amazing colours.
Sunset in Praia Baleal
My bus left this morning from Lisbon to Peniche. A friend of mine, I worked with at the ImpacTrip Project in Lisbon invited me to join her at her grandparent’s place. According to Mariana should we see her some of the most beautiful sunsets in Portugal. Or at least, it was that what I was getting to see and experience. But before I got onto my bus, I had a lovely breakfast with Andre, the manager of the hostel I was staying. And what an amazing place that was. The hostel was kept in its originality and so showed a typical Lisbon home. But if it wasn’t for the people running the place, one would not realise that this is a hostel. Anyway, I said my goodbyes and promised to return.
The trip to Peniche toke only 90 Minutes. My friend Mariana picked me up from the bus station, which was a little bit off the centre, and in the middle of an industrial area. She came with her little offroader and without wasting any time did we dive into the beauty of what was to come. It was just early afternoon. We drove to the second most western point Europas. Who can say, to have ever visited the second most western point Europes, right? 😉 The sea was meeting the rocks, surrounding the peninsula with its unravelling force and later we should see this increase in intensity. The water was splashing up in the air and wetting our faces.
The afternoon, we just spend, walking along the long and beautiful beaches around Praia Baleal. Mariana was talking a lot about the amazing sunset in Praia Baleal and so we marked this in our imaginary diaries für the evening. We should not be disappointed.
It is 9 pm, the sun is making its way down and we, our way to the beach. The tight is low and the ocean opens up, of what usually is hidden when the tight is high and thousands of people enjoy the cold and salty water of the ocean. Now, there was rocks, little rivers and so much green to see. The sun got lower and lower and bathed the air, the sea, the houses and rocks in its amazing colours. Violet, green, blue, yellow, almost the whole spectrum of the rainbow showed up to our sunset party at the beach. Mariana’s dog „Pingu“ had a great time and kept running into the water and alongside the vastness of the sandy beach. I was astounded by the beauty of the sun going down I was literally rendered speechless and so, I did not say much, while walking slowly backwards, keeping the colours of the sun-set insight. Mariana was just smiling in her cheeky way and said; „What did I tell you?“
Good night Baleal.
Bom Caminho.
That which gets in the way – Is the way
You see, this keeps happening to me, just as much as a hurtful foot or an aching hip. Even my mind wanted to not accept this at first and I did realise that, noticed the rejection of something beautiful just as much as I would probably reject some pain at first. Today...
When Play brings real emotions to the surface
Suddenly there was real emotion and not a play of a theatre piece. Laughing, crying, running tears and a beating heart, that was making somersaults for being free. Yes, I am back again writing some new lines of text for you to read. Or am I just writing this stuff for...
My foot is broken – so, what now
Limping and making carefully one step at a time, I made it to a place called Montedor. I stepped into a Cafe which was named after the town, ordered a cafe and a toast with ham and cheese and sat down outside."My foot is broken and what now?" That's what I asked...
Let’s just mumble around a bit and walk the way
Ohh, so my morning started with Bob Marley and an amazing walk along the Atlantic coastline. I thought that I would embark on a 24K walk, If I had known yesterday, what I know now, that I would be so exhausted and physically done - I would have written my next blog...
When you are here but you never see Porto
I feel like dropping into the pilgrim. I sort stop exploring places, I am staying at, and instead of that, come down to very simple tasks, like cooking and enjoying a glass of wine in the kitchen. This morning it was again time to say goodbye to Lisbon. Only this...
Meeting friends on two and four legs
My time in Praia Baleal was wonderful. So much beach-time, so much laughter with my two-legged friends and so much love and awareness with my four-legged friend Pingu. I am back in Lisbon, sitting again at the "Home Lisbon Hostel" right in the centre of town and...
Off to Cascais – An unintentional practice of non-doing
It is actually quite funny to write about a trip to the beach when visiting a beach is usually quite eventless.Temperatures start to pick up in Lisbon. More and more people are making their ways to the beaches of which you can find many here. So, what did I do today?...
I love Portugal
It has been a gorgeous day with a lot of sunshine. I walked up and down, got lost and found my way again. The second day in Lisbon and I realise - I love Portugal. I have slept like a baby, and even though my windows have been open, the city noise was hardly...
Touch down Lisbon
What a wonderful day it has become. I almost did not believe anymore, that I would actually make it to Portugal.Touch down Lisbon. What a wonderful day it has become. I almost did not believe anymore, that I would actually make it to Portugal. 48 hours before my...
The yearning for some Camino boots
